Prehistoric

A marked concentration of Post-medieval brick/tile was recorded on the former site of the now demolished 'Grub Barn' (structure not recorded on tithe map).

The field was created and the barn constructed after part of the wood was cleared for cultivation in 1862. The name 'Grub' indicates the clearance of the woodland. No artefacts were retained.

Method: Entire field subjected to informal line-walk. Spacing between lines somewhat inconsistent.
