Cottage probably post-dates 1840 although earlier cottages lay close by.

The excavation of a single test-pit yielded 290 sherds of 18th-19th C. pottery, 243 pieces of post-Roman tile, 76 clay pipe fragments (all 19th C. except one 17th C. example) and 105 pieces of slag weighing 1.493kg. The investigation also gleaned Welsh Slate, glass, Post-medieval / modern metalwork and two struck flint ‘bladelets’ of probable Mesolithic origin.
