Lawn Cottage

1038
(1041)

Lawn Cottage is an addition to an earlier property, Lawn House, dating to the Late 16th C. The whole property was named The Old House in 1840 (TA 1041), which suggests it was the predecessor to the New House, now Barcombe House.

A single test-pit containing a sherd of mid 12th-early 13th C. pottery, one sherd of certain 13th C. origin and another of 13th-14th C. date. A possible spherical iron weight (age unclear) was also recovered.
