P113/51

Sharpsbridge Farm and adjoining cottages and land

Summary

Until parochial boundaries were reformed in the 20th century some parishes had detached areas of land lying within the bounds of other parishes, of which Sharpsbridge, an area of Barcombe parish situated within Newick, is an example. It was transferred to the parish of Newick in 1934.

James Pimm was a well known papermaker who was already running Dean's Mill at Lindfield when he established the paper mill here (62).
