NB: The tithe apportionment attributes TA 169, the yard in this complex, to Mary Errey owner of the property to the north. That is very unlikely and is probably an error but we have no other evidence to prove or disprove the record. In 1692 an Anabaptist meeting when held here when Thomas Giles owned the house. The present house dates from the mid-18th century. There was an earlier cottage on the tenement which may have been replaced by Thomas Chantler when he acquired the holding. In 1862 the property was purchased by James Sclater from Harry Kemp Walls and incorporated into the Newick Park estate. |
