One of a small group of cottages now lost (TA 154, 175, 176). It is clear that the settlement pattern changed shortly after 1840; by 1873/4 this cottage was lost and the settlement in the area had shifted to the road (60). Subsequently the construction of the railway line to Horsted Keynes in c1882-1885 further obscured the earlier settlement pattern. |
