P113/19 2007 The Manila (TA 425), Pennygowan, and Shangri La (TA 425.5, 426), garden at Bye Law Cottages (TA 424 garden plot)

This is one of several areas of land owned by John Constable, a builder, in 1840. His land was held of three manors Barcombe, Camoys Court and Allington. As well as his two larger landholdings at Spithurst and Barcombe Cross he acquired small enclosures from the waste of the manor of Barcombe, typically long narrow roadside strips, of which this tenement is one.

For the other land owned by Constable in 1840 see P113/19/1 TA 1104, 873 ; P113/19/2 TA 472; P113/19/3 TA 892
