A small cottage built on land part of the large outlier of the manor of Allington that extended to include Spithurst (Church) Farm and Carpenters Farm. The name Slutts given to this tenement in 1655 applied to a large area of land north of Knowlands farm, the name implies muddy land, probably undesirable and rather difficult to farm. For the rest of the land in Barcombe owned by the Earl of Liverpool see P113/44, TA 1339; P113/44/1, TA 1033; P113/44/2, TA 200; P113/44/4, TA 1178. |
