This landholding consists largely of six tenements of the manor of Barcombe merged into the ownership of Edward Attree by 1684, some can be traced in the earlier manor rentals but the earlier descent in the Gravely and Godman family is not clear and has not been included here. The two tenements of the manor of Camois Court were acquired by James Attree in 1686. The land formed part of the substantial estate in Barcombe owned by George Grantham by 1840. He purchased most of the land from John Holroyd. For Grantham's other land see Markstakes Common P113/34/1 TA 202; Banks Farm P113/34/2 TA 731. |
