Wootton Cottage (TA1100)

There was a house on the site of Wootton Cottage before 1687. The tenement in the village, which had been owned by William Simmonds earlier, was purchased by John Simmonds when John Holroyd's Barcombe Place estate was first offered for sale in 1836. The smith's forge stood on the site of what is now the village hall.
