P113/35/1 2007 Blunts Wood and a plot of land W of Handlye Farm

Tenements enclosed from Handlye Common in 1574. The Blunts, who held land both here and to the east of the parish (see Blunts Field TA 645), were related to Wilfred Scawen Blunt of Crabbett Park in W. Sussex, a Victorian landowner and writer of some distinction. Like many Barcombe landowners the Blunt family never lived in the parish, although they have left their mark in the form of the names Blunts Wood, Blunts Lane and Blunts Field.
