Curds Farm

1148 (A)

1149(B)

An early timber-framed farmhouse located by barns is now lost.

Two test-pits excavated.

Test-pit A: yielded one sherd of 18th-19th C. pottery and examples of similarly dated brick. Possible former pond deposit recorded.

Test-pit B: yielded two sherds of 13th-14th C. pot, four pieces of mid 16th-early 18th C. pottery, 59 18th-19th C. pot sherds, 24 Post-roman tile fragments and seven 19th C. clay pipe segments.

Farm buildings Curd's Farm, showing the roof of the original cottage. The form of the roof confirms that it was timber-framed but the exact age is unknown.
