Curds Farm TA 1149

Photographs of the farm yard show the roof of the original cottage, now demolished, which was shown on the tithe map of 1840. Although only the roof is visible the cottage was certainly timber-framed and possibly dating to the 16th-17th century. Archaeological evidence suggests that the site may have been in use as early as the 13th-14th century but more work would be needed to establish whether there was continuity of settlement on the site.

The form of the roof confirms that it was timber-framed but the exact age is unknown.
