Curds Farm the only tenement with a dwelling (messuage) was the principal copyhold tenement. The precise bounds of the tenements cannot now be traced. The present Curds Farm House was built in 1865 replacing the original timber-framed cottage that was later demolished. Excavation revealed a small quantity of 13th-14th century medieval pot on the site of the cottage suggesting that the original farm was established before the enclosure of Handlye Common in 1574 (23) The Curd family, from whom the farm name is derived, were resident in the parish c1653-1792 living presumably, at least part of that time, as tenants at the farm.
