Test-pit site: Drove House H313 |
Four test-pits excavated. Test-pit A yielded one sherd of 13th-14th C. pottery, 48 pieces of late 18th-19th C. pot, 45 Post-roman tile fragments and 11 segments of 19th C. clay pipe. Three pieces of worked flint were found. Test-pit B contained 172 sherds of pottery dating to the late 18th-19th C., 61 fragments of Post-roman tile, 29 19th C. clay pipe segments and three iron slag nodules. Fifty four late 18th-19th C. pot sherds, 28 Post-roman tile fragments and six clay pipe pieces of 19th C. origin were recovered from Test-pit C. One piece of worked flint was found. Test-pit D produced 13 sherds of 19th C. pottery, 25 Post-roman tile fragments and one piece of 19th C. clay pipe. |
